Apple MacBook Pro Review (M5 Max, 16-inch): The Fastest MacBook Yet

Apple MacBook Pro M5 Max 16-inch Review Outrageous Speed

Apple’s M5 Max MacBook Pro delivers record-breaking performance in a 16-inch powerhouse, though at the cost of portability and longevity.

Cupertino, California: Apple sent me a test MacBook Pro with the M5 Max chip inside. You can also get the M5 Max in a 14-inch size, which I like better. You need a 16-inch laptop if you work all day using professional tools and don’t want to use an extra computer screen. However, 4.7 pounds is heavy to carry around, and it doesn’t fit well on small tables at coffee shops.

The display, speakers, and camera didn’t change, but they’re still the best available. The speakers are especially good – they sound so nice you could use them for a party. They play louder and fuller than most speakers you might own. The screen can cost $150 more for special glass that blocks light while staying clear.

A new screen technology called Tandem OLED might come out soon. Right now the Mini-LED screen shows colors very well and looks great playing games or watching movies. The battery says it lasts 24 hours, which won’t really happen during daily use, but it still works longer than Windows laptops like the Asus ProArt P16.

The ports stayed the same as before. Since last year’s model had Thunderbolt 5, more devices now work with it. I wish we had more special storage drives that could use its fast speed. The important part is how fast the M5 Max works – it’s really, really quick.

The chip uses two pieces of silicon put together in a new way. This makes it faster than before but takes more work to make efficient. When I tested it with programs that measure speed, it set new records. You can get even faster by using High Power mode, though the cooling fans will work harder.
