Cupertino: Apple has launched a new version of the AirTag. This device is now louder and can find items over greater distances. It has a longer Bluetooth range, a louder speaker, and better precision-finding skills. These features use Apple’s second-generation Ultra Wideband chip, which is included in the new iPhone 17 and the Apple Watch Series 11.

The new AirTag can help you find lost items with haptic, visual, and audio signals. Apple says that it can now help you locate items up to 50% farther than before. The better Bluetooth chip also adds to the distance you can find things.

Precision Finding will work with the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 or newer. This means you can easily track your belongings using your watch.

The speaker on the new AirTag is also much louder. It is 50% louder than the old version. Now, you can listen for your AirTag’s beep from twice the distance.

This updated AirTag will connect with Share Item Location. This iOS feature lets you share the AirTag’s location with others. Apple has even partnered with 50 airlines for luggage tracking, making it easier to find your bags while traveling.

The price of the AirTag remains the same: $29 for one or $99 for a pack of four with free engraving options. AirTag initially launched in 2021 and quickly became popular for finding lost items. It made life hard for other brands like Tile, which struggled to compete.

Apple’s AirTag leads the market, with reports showing it makes up nearly 70% of trackers sold in late 2024. However, Apple hasn’t revealed exact AirTag sales numbers.
