Asus ROG Falcata Review: A Split Gaming Keyboard

Exploring the Asus ROG Falcata Review A Unique Split Gaming Keyboard Experience

The Asus ROG Falcata is a split gaming keyboard with unique features like adjustable actuation distance and an interesting design for better typing.

New York: The Asus ROG Falcata is a gaming keyboard that splits into two halves. It has a wheel on the left side to change settings like actuation distance and RGB brightness. You can also use it to change the volume and play media. There’s an LED matrix below the wheel that shows your actuation distance changes but can be a bit tricky. Each tiny change fills a bar, and it rolls over many times, which can be confusing. Pressing down on a switch helps you see how far you’re pressing, making adjustments easier.

The Falcata now has an aftermarket switch option called TTC Gold magnetic switches. This is better than most Hall effect keyboards that usually offer only one switch option.

The keyboard is built in a neat way. Instead of having a regular tray mount, where the parts are attached directly to the bottom, it uses a different style. The PCB screws into the plate from underneath, which helps with typing. This design reduces “dead zones” in the middle. It also makes typing smoother because there are fewer vibrations.

You can easily split the keyboard by removing screws, and four cables connect the two halves, so you need to disconnect those first. After that, you can take out the silicone sound-dampening with ease. However, the foam dampening was stuck well to the PCB, making it hard to replace. Even though this wasn’t a big problem since you can put the foam back in, it can be annoying when other companies make it easier.
