Our Favorite Baby Monitors
Baby monitors are essential for almost every parent. These gadgets help you keep an eye on your baby. Some advanced models can alert you and track vitals at night. We tested many baby monitors in real homes to see how well they work. Here are our favorites.
Eufy Baby Monitor E110 is my go-to, even now that my son is 3. It’s simple and reliable, working well in multi-story homes. It even has a two-way microphone and temperature sensor. Only downside? The parent unit’s battery doesn’t last all night, but it gives enough time to move around.
Nanit Pro Baby Monitor is the best Wi-Fi baby monitor. It offers a 1080p HD camera feed and many accessories. You can even track baby’s breathing with an add-on. The only drawback is that you need your phone to see the feed unless you buy the display. Plus, some features require a subscription.
Owlet Dream Sight Gen 3 has a unique wearable sock to track baby’s vitals. While I’ve used just the camera, it’s handy to check on my son without finding my monitor. Just note, the Wi-Fi can drop sometimes.
Nanit Home Display is perfect if you want a display with your monitor. But, like all Nanit products, it requires a subscription for full features.
Our Favorite Sound Machines
Sound machines help babies sleep by mimicking the sounds of the womb. They are helpful for blocking out noise and keeping babies calm. We’ve tested these machines with our children to find the best ones.
The Hatch Baby Sound Machine now has a cute design and easy app controls. My son loves it and enjoys the nightlight feature.
LectroFan High Fidelity White Noise Machine is another favorite. It’s simple, affordable, and offers various sounds. This small machine fits easily on any surface.
Our Favorite Smart Bassinets
Smart bassinets can help babies sleep better. They are useful if you want your baby in the room but lack space for a full crib. I skipped the bassinet before and regretted it; it’s easier to reach your baby in a bassinet.
★ On our list: The Elvie Rise is a smart bouncer and bassinet. It helps bounce baby to sleep, then switches to flat bassinet mode.
Snoo Smart Sleeper Bassinet is our top pick. While it may not work miracles, it helps baby sleep longer and easier with its special features. You can even rent it from Happiest Baby.
Cradlewise Smart Bassinet and Crib costs more but offers many features. It has a built-in monitor and sound machine and can be both a bassinet and crib. It tracks sleep and adjusts if the baby fusses, though it can be a bit glitchy. Overall, it’s a handy device that saves space.
Our Favorite Strollers
Choosing a good stroller is so important. You will use it a lot! From strollers for multiple kids to travel strollers and wagons, here are our favorites. We’ve tested each model with our kiddos.
Mockingbird 2.0 is a fantastic single-to-double stroller. It has a large storage basket and works well. While it doesn’t fold as small as the Uppababy, it’s cheaper and does everything!
Nuna TRVL is my favorite travel stroller. It’s ultra-lightweight and folds easily. Even my tall son fits well in it. It works with Nuna car seats too, making it super convenient.
Thule Chariot Cross 2 is a sporty choice. This stroller can be also used for jogging and biking. It offers a smooth ride, efficient design, and easy transitions but takes up more space.
Veer Cruiser is perfect for trips with friends or at the beach. It holds multiple toddlers or loads of gear. While the design has its quirks, it works great on various terrains.
Our Favorite Car Seats
One important item every baby needs is a car seat. It’s essential for bringing your little one home. Here are my favorite car seats from years of experience.
Doona Car Seat & Stroller is a handy combo. It transitions from car seat to stroller easily, which saves you from moving baby around a lot. It’s slightly heavier but very practical for parents.
Graco SnugRide SnugFit DLX is durable and stylish. It’s easy to carry, though it felt heavy during my postpartum days. It’s compatible with many strollers, which adds flexibility.
Cybex Callisto G 360 is a larger convertible car seat with a unique rotating feature. It fits kids from infants to toddlers. I love that its belt works smoothly and rarely gets tangled. A nice cover is a must for any accidents!
Maxi-Cosi Kani 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat is affordable and easy to use. It’s simple to install and works well for fitting kids. It includes drink holders, but one is enough since it can be tricky to access.
Our Favorite Wearable Breast Pumps
If breastfeeding, a good breast pump is key. I recommend trying a wearable one for extra comfort. Here are my top picks from when I was nursing.
Willow Go Wearable Breast Pump is great. It’s easy to wear and clean, and the clear design lets you check how much you’re pumping. Just don’t bend over when wearing it!
Elvie Stride 2 is another excellent option. It’s comfy and connects to a separate motor, making it easier to wear. It stays secure while you go about your day.
Our Favorite Baby Bottle Washers
Bottle washing is essential if your baby drinks milk. It’s tiring to wash a bottle by hand! A bottle washer makes cleaning simple. We’ve tested the best options available.
Grownsy EaseClean Bottle Washer Pro is our top choice. It has space for many bottle parts and offers customizable cleaning cycles. Just place it near a sink due to the dirty-water output.
Baby Brezza Bottle Washer Pro is popular for a reason. It washes and sterilizes effectively. While it can be a bit loud, it’s efficient and doesn’t require much water.
Our Favorite Crib Mattresses, Toddler Mattresses, and Pillows
Along with a car seat, a safe sleeping space is vital, like a good mattress for your baby. These are the ones my child loved most over the years.
Newton Baby Waterproof Crib Mattress features a unique design that offers support and breathability. It’s washable and has a removable cover for easy cleaning.
Helix Sleep Kids Mattress has two sides, one firmer for younger kids and the other softer for when they grow. I have loved both sides while snuggling with my child.
Bear Cub Kids Mattress is soft and cozy. It’s perfect for older kids. However, a different mattress is better for younger ones beyond a year old.
Bear Kids Pillow is my child’s favorite. It’s supportive and comfortable. Just remember, no pillows for babies under one!
Our Favorite Other Accessories
Here are more gadgets parents have loved during those first years.
Earpeace Sleep Earplugs let in just enough sound to help tune out baby cries without completly blocking out everything. Their design is comfy, making them perfect for anyone, even side sleepers.
Fridababy Electric NoseFrida is a must-have for parents! It gently clears your child’s nose, especially when they catch colds from daycare. Even when my son grew older, I still found it useful!
