DoorDash says it banned driver who seemingly faked a delivery using AI

Austin: DoorDash seems to confirm a story about a driver who used an AI image to pretend they delivered food. A local man, Byrne Hobart, shared his experience on X. He said the driver marked the order as delivered right away and sent a fake photo of his front door.

Hobart realized his account might have been faked easily. He also mentioned that another person had the same issue in Austin with the same driver’s name. Hobart thinks the driver might have used a hacked account on a jailbroken phone. This could let the driver grab a photo of his door from past deliveries.

A spokesperson for DoorDash told TechCrunch they acted quickly. They banned the driver for cheating and made sure the customer was okay. The company said they do not allow fraud and use technology and people to find and stop bad behavior on their platform.
