Google Classroom Launches Gemini Tool for Creating Podcast Lessons
Google Classroom introduces a Gemini tool for educators to create engaging podcast-style lessons.
To start, teachers visit the Gemini tab in Google Classroom. They can pick different options, like choosing the right grade level, setting topics, and clear learning goals. They can make the audio lessons even more personal by deciding how many speakers to use or what style to choose—like interviews or casual chats.
This feature works for teachers with Google Workspace Education plans. By using something students enjoy, like podcasts, teachers can engage them better. Many students love listening to podcasts, with about 35 million Gen Z listeners in the U.S. each month.
Podcasts are also becoming popular as learning tools. Many colleges create their own podcasts, and students like to find educational series. Podcast lessons can help students study independently because they can replay episodes if they miss something.
Still, teachers have some worries about using AI tools in class. Some think students might depend too much on AI help, like using ChatGPT for homework. Google tells teachers to use AI responsibly. They should carefully check any AI-generated content to ensure it’s suitable for their classroom needs and local rules.
Google first launched Gemini for Classroom in 2024. Since then, they added new features. Last June, major updates helped teachers brainstorm, create lesson plans, and adapt materials for their students.
