Google Gemini Is Taking Control of Humanoid Robots on Auto Factory Floors

Gemini Revolutionizes Humanoid Robots in Auto Factories with AI Control

Google’s Gemini is set to enhance humanoid robots on factory floors, combining AI with physical robotics for better efficiency.

Boston: Google’s Gemini is stepping up to control humanoid robots on auto factory floors. For years, Boston Dynamics has led in robot development. They create advanced robots that can move like humans and animals. Started in 2013 under Google, they were sold to SoftBank in 2017 and later bought by Hyundai in 2021.

Now, many new companies are joining the robot race. In the US, over a dozen firms, like Tesla and Agility Robotics, are working on humanoid robots. In China, about 200 companies are also making these robots. More AI firms are exploring robotics because they believe robots need to understand our world to think like us.

Google DeepMind, which now has leaders from Boston Dynamics, aims to help many robot makers use Gemini, like Android works on phones. They believe that adding AI to industrial robots will make them more helpful. Data from Boston Dynamics will improve how Gemini helps robots learn.

Carolina Parada from Google DeepMind says Gemini can adapt to the physical world. She mentions that their goal is to create smart robots for many uses, starting with cars. However, safety remains a key concern. Parada emphasizes that Gemini will help robots think ahead to avoid dangerous actions because even small robots can pose risks.
