New York: Google is adding new AI tools to Gmail to help users. They announced an AI Inbox that reads your emails and gives you suggestions. This new feature is still being tested. It can remind you to reschedule appointments or reply to your child’s coach. It lists what you need to do right at the top.

The AI Inbox also shows important topics found in your emails. Each suggestion links back to the original email for more details. Google has made improvements in its AI, called Gemini, to make it better since their previous version didn’t perform well. They still warn that the AI can make mistakes sometimes.

If you worry about privacy, Google says it won’t use your email information to make its AI smarter. Blake Barnes, the project leader, said you can turn off these new tools if you want. Along with the AI Inbox, Google is offering other tools for free, like Help Me Write, which creates emails for you.

Paid users of Gmail will get extra features. They will have a proofreading tool for better writing and a summary tool that can find and summarize topics across the inbox, not just one email.
