Google Maps Gets New Ask Maps Feature Powered by Gemini
Google’s navigation app adds an AI chat tool that provides personalized recommendations for trips and routes.
San Francisco: Google just added a new feature to Maps called Ask Maps. It’s a chat tool powered by AI that helps you find places and plan trips.
Ask Maps is like talking to a smart friend who knows everything about your city and can give great travel advice. Google is putting this smart technology into all its products, just like how people put bird stickers on everything.
Ask Maps is coming first to phones in the US and India. You can see it as the first thing when you open Maps. When you tap it, Google shows helpful suggestions based on where you live. If you’re in San Francisco, it might suggest driving to Muir Woods with breakfast stopping for breakfast burritos along the way.
The feature works great for road trips. If you want to visit the Grand Canyon and nearby sand dunes, ask Maps creates a plan with stops and even gives tips like where to rent sandboards. It also knows what you like—if you’re vegetarian, it won’t suggest steak restaurants for dinner.
