Los Angeles: Spyware can sneak onto your phone in tricky ways. Richard LaTulip from Recorded Future says it usually happens through fake apps or bad links. But he warns that there are also sneakier methods. A recent study showed some fake browser tools act like spying devices.

Several governments are behind these spyware tools, claiming they only target bad people. However, many innocent folks like human rights activists and journalists have been hurt by this. Rebecca White from Amnesty International explains that these tools can harm those trying to share important truths.

For example, during protests in Thailand, activist Niraphorn Onnkhaow faced 14 attempts of being spied on. She got scared and stopped helping the protests because she worried about her private information being used against her.

Troublingly, spyware is now reaching more people, including business workers and officials. Cole from iVerify shares that it’s not just for spying anymore; it’s used to steal work passwords too.

Detecting spyware can be really hard, especially the strong types like Pegasus and Predator. You may notice your phone getting too hot or slow. Sometimes, you might find your camera or mic on when they shouldn’t be used.

If your phone suddenly runs poorly or behaves oddly, then it could be a warning sign. So, stay alert and protect your personal information!
