Exploring the Most Memorable Robots from CES That Stole the Show
From ping pong players to housekeepers, CES showcased remarkable robots that entertained and amazed visitors this year.
The ping pong player was made by Sharpa, a company from China. This robot played table tennis with a human. When I saw it, the robot was losing, 5-9. The game wasn’t super fast, but it was still cool to watch. A person from Sharpa said that they made a robotic hand and used this robot to show how well their hand works.
Another exciting robot was the boxer, made by EngineAI, another Chinese company. Their robots were in a practice boxing ring, but they didn’t actually hit each other. Instead, they practiced moves without contact. Sometimes, the robots acted silly. One stepped out of the ring, and another fell down on its face. People around laughed and said it looked too much like a robot from movies.
The dancing robot came from Unitree, which is also in China. They have cool robots that can move fast, even up to 11 mph! At their booth, I saw lots of robots dancing and having fun. There was nothing bad or scary about what I saw there.
Then I checked out the convenience store robot made by Galbot. This company’s booth looked just like a store. When I picked Sour Patch Kids, the robot went to grab them for me! They also help in real stores in China, like pharmacies.
One of the most impressive robots was at Dyna Robotics. They created a robot that can actually fold laundry! This robot’s arms moved together to fold shirts perfectly. A worker said they already worked with hotels and gyms to help them. They also got lots of money from big companies like Nvidia, Amazon, and Samsung.
Finally, I saw LG’s new robot named CLOid. It looked cute and was fun to meet. But it wasn’t very fast compared to some other robots there. I wrote more about my thoughts on that robot and how it performed.
