I Watched LG’s New Home Robot CLOid Do Laundry And I Have Questions About It

I checked out LG’s CLOid robot at CES, and while it looks helpful, I’m curious about its real capabilities.

San Francisco: I saw LG’s new robot CLOid at CES, and it seems like it can help with chores. CLOid is an AI-powered robot that can do tasks like folding laundry and making breakfast. LG hopes it will one day help you with many everyday things.

During the presentation, CLOid moved by itself and had cameras and sensors to help it see and understand its surroundings. It also talked back to the people around it. The robot is supposed to learn from what it sees and hears, like Siri does for phones.

I watched CLOid at CES, but I was surprised at how slow it is. It took a long time to pick a shirt and put it in the dryer. It even took a long time to choose milk from the fridge. While CLOid was cute and friendly, it worked slowly, and I wondered if it would really help with chores.

LG wants to create a home where you don’t have to lift a finger. They call this the “Zero Labor Home” idea. CLOid is a part of that vision, but it’s not ready for everyone just yet. I learned that it could take some time before CLOid is really available for families.

Even though CLOid was more of a showcase than something people can buy, LG has other cool products. They showed off a smart oven that can suggest recipes and a fridge that you can chat with. All of these gadgets are designed to work together, and you can control them with LG’s app.
