ICE Agent Who Shot Renee Good Was a Firearms Trainer According to Testimony
A testimony reveals that the ICE agent involved in shooting Renee Good was a firearms trainer and experienced officer.
Ross’s testimony came from a trial related to another incident in June. In that case, he was trying to capture a man named Roberto Carlos Muñoz-Guatemala, who was in the U.S. without permission.
Because the man’s home was near a school, Ross and his team followed him in unmarked cars to avoid entering the property. Ross testified that he asked Muñoz-Guatemala to open his car window. When Muñoz-Guatemala did not comply, Ross broke the back window and reached in.
While trying to get Ross off, Muñoz-Guatemala drove off quickly. Ross used his Taser but was thrown from the car. He ended up needing 33 stitches for his injuries. Muñoz-Guatemala later called for help, leading to his arrest and conviction for assaulting a federal officer.
Reports say Ross was also the agent who shot Good during an immigration action. Video shows him firing at her vehicle as she was trying to leave, and she seemed to be avoiding contact. The Vice President, JD Vance, mentioned Ross’s past encounter and said it made him sensitive to such situations.
Secretary of Homeland Security, Kirsti Noem, labeled Good’s actions as “domestic terrorism.” The FBI is still looking into the shooting. A DHS spokesperson stated they would not reveal the officer’s name, asserting that he acted as trained. Ross has a military background, having served in Iraq before joining Border Patrol in 2007.
