Lux Capital Secures $1.5 Billion for Its Largest Fund in Company History
Lux Capital has raised $1.5 billion for its biggest fund yet, highlighting its strong position in defense and AI investments despite market challenges.
Lux has been putting money into defense technologies for years. This area has become very popular because of recent world events. They invested early in companies like Anduril, now valued at $30.5 billion, and Applied Intuition, worth $15 billion. Applied Intuition even landed contracts with the Pentagon.
The firm also invests in AI startups. They got in early before AI really took off after ChatGPT. Some of their AI investments include Hugging Face, Runway AI, and MosaicML, which was bought by Databricks for $1.3 billion in 2023.
Lux has made smart investments that paid off. They have seen big successes with Recursion Pharmaceuticals, which went public in 2021, and Auris Health, which was sold to Johnson & Johnson for up to $6 billion in 2019. With this new fund, Lux now manages $7 billion in total assets.
