Mark Zuckerberg Announces Meta’s New Initiative for AI Infrastructure Development
Meta is rolling out a new AI infrastructure initiative called Meta Compute to enhance its capabilities in AI and power consumption.
Zuckerberg shared that Meta plans to create tens of gigawatts of energy. Over time, they expect to make even more. “This infrastructure will be very important for us,” said Zuckerberg.
Meta will have three people leading this new project. One is Santosh Janardhan, who has worked at Meta since 2009. He will manage the technical parts of the project. Another leader is Daniel Gross, who joined only last year. He will focus on planning and business models. Lastly, Dina Powell McCormick will help work with governments on Meta’s infrastructure.
The demand for energy is growing as more companies, like Microsoft, also work on AI projects. They are forming partnerships with other providers to meet this need. Google’s parent company, Alphabet, is acquiring data centers too. TechCrunch has reached out to Meta for more details about this new initiative.
