Plano, Texas: A technology company used by many banks says hackers stole personal and financial information from more than 672,000 people during a cyber attack last year.

The company, Marquis, is telling people in Texas and other states that their names, birth dates, home addresses, bank account numbers, debit and credit card numbers, and Social Security numbers were stolen. Hackers got this information in August 2025.

Most of the people affected live in Texas. The company filed papers saying hackers broke into their computer systems through a weakness in equipment made by another company called SonicWall. Marquis is now taking legal action against SonicWall for not keeping their systems safe.

The hackers used special tools to lock up Marquis’ computer systems and demanded money to unlock them. This type of attack is called ransomware. Hackers stole important information about firewalls before breaking into Marquis’ network.

The company used to help many banks look at and understand their customers’ information. Now they are working to fix their security problems and protect people’s data better.
