Norda 001A G+ Trail Running Shoe Review: As Expensive as an Apple Watch

Bold Design Meets Ultra-Durable Trail Foam Innovation

Norda’s 001A G+ trail shoe boasts advanced foam tech, weatherproofing, and rock-solid durability for long-distance runners.

Sports

Vancouver: Norda launched its first shoe with the 001, a cushioned trail shoe made for ultra-long runs. It had a cult-classic look that made it stand out right away. Now comes the 001A, which adds better foam tech and weatherproofing. There are three versions: the 001A, the 001A G+ for wet weather, and the 001A G+ Spike for icy or snowy trails.

Most Advanced Foam Tech Yet

Vancouver: The shoe uses a special foam blend made by Norda and Arnitel. It bounces back 30 percent more than the first model and feels softer. It also weighs 10 percent less but still lasts past 1,000 kilometers (621 miles). That’s what Norda wanted to do—make foam that lasts longer and feels better than other brands.

Ride Feel and Traction

Vancouver: The ride feels grounded, not super soft. That’s because the midsole is smaller than some other trail shoes. It’s 26 mm in the heel and 21 mm in the front. It doesn’t bounce as much as the Asics Metafuji or Hoka Tecton X3, but it stays smooth on all kinds of ground. It works well on dirt, grass, and even forest paths.

Upper Strength and Sustainability

Vancouver: The upper part of the shoe is made from bio-based Dyneema fibers. Those fibers are super strong—15 times stronger than metal at the same weight. They’re also made in a way that’s safe and eco-friendly. After 50 miles of use, the shoe still looks good. People who have used the older 001A models say it’s tough and lasts a long time.
