OpenAI expands government footprint with AWS deal

OpenAI signs AWS deal to sell AI to U.S. government as Anthropic faces Pentagon conflict

Technology

San Francisco: OpenAI and Amazon Web Services signed a deal. OpenAI will sell its artificial intelligence products to the U.S. government. The work will include both secret (classified) and non-secret (unclassified) projects.

Washington: OpenAI already has a deal with the Pentagon. The military can use OpenAI’s AI on its secret network. This happened while another company called Anthropic was having problems with the Department of Defense. Anthropic was named a security risk by the military.

The government says Anthropic would not stop its technology from being used for spying on people. Anthropic also wants to build weapons that can work on their own. Anthropic sued the Pentagon after being called a risk.

OpenAI is now working with Amazon. Amazon owns part of Anthropic and also helps them with cloud storage. AWS is the main cloud provider for the government. OpenAI’s deal with AWS will help them work with more government agencies.

Companies often trust products that the government uses. This might help OpenAI get more contracts. OpenAI and AWS have not said anything yet about this news.
