Peacock transforms into a mobile-first platform with AI-generated content, vertical sports streaming, and interactive gaming

Peacock: A popular streaming service is getting big changes to keep people entertained on their phones. The company showed off new features at a recent meeting with reporters. These features include AI-created videos, games you can play on your phone, and special ways to watch sports that fit your screen perfectly.

One new feature called “Your Bravoverse” uses AI and videos from the Bravo channel. The AI takes clips from more than 5,000 hours of Bravo shows and puts them together based on what you like. You’ll see a computer version of TV host Andy Cohen explaining the clips. Fans can pick their favorite shows, and the AI makes a personal video list. Many different combinations are possible—more than 600 billion options!

People who love Bravo shows watch a lot of TV. The average fan watches about 24 hours each month. Some very loyal fans watch up to 75 episodes monthly. “Your Bravoverse” will work on phones this summer and later on TVs. The company thinks Bravo fans are perfect for testing new AI features because they already watch so much.

Sports fans get something new too. You can watch live NBA games in a tall format that fits your phone screen better. The AI automatically moves the camera to show the most exciting parts during basketball games. This starts in spring as a test feature. It builds on something called Courtside Live, which already lets you see games from different camera angles on your phone.

Peacock now has a special section for short videos, just like TikTok or Instagram. You can scroll through quick clips from TV shows, movies, and sports. Disney+ and Netflix are doing similar things with short videos lately. Peacock also tried AI during the 2024 Olympics, making 10-minute summary videos of each day’s events.

Games are coming to Peacock too. Two new mystery games let you solve crimes with an AI helper. There’s also Jeopardy! trivia you can play every day. These join other games already on the app. The company wants to be more than just a place to watch movies and shows.

Right now, Peacock has 44 million people who pay for it. That’s more than before, but the company still loses money. Last year, they lost $552 million in one three-month period. By adding games, AI videos, and new ways to watch sports, Peacock hopes more people will use the app and watch for longer times.
