Perplexity Computer Another Bet Many AI Models
Perplexity launches new AI tool using 19 models in single system for complex tasks
San Francisco: Starting this week, subscribers can use Perplexity Computer for complex tasks. The new tool uses 19 different AI models and can create smaller helpers to solve specific problems. It runs in the cloud and costs $200 per month.
Users can switch between models depending on what they need. For example, people use one model for writing computer code and another for studying medicine. The company says having many models helps find the right answer faster and cheaper.
The tool became available after some problems were found just before a showing to reporters. Perplexity changed its plans this year by stopping ads because users wanted better answers. The company focuses on people who make big decisions instead of trying to get everyone as users.
Perplexity also made its own search system without using other companies. Users can ask questions to multiple models at once using a feature called Model Council. Some people online say they have trouble with limits on free searches, but officials say this is not true.
The company plans to release more products soon. A mobile version of its web browser will come out next month and it will hold a meeting for developers in March. Officials say they now look at how much money they make instead of how many searches happen.
