City: Las Vegas: Roku is making big plans for its streaming service, Howdy. Anthony Wood, the CEO of Roku, shared exciting news at CES 2026. Howdy launched last August and costs $2.99 per month. It offers ad-free content at a time when many other services are raising their prices.

Wood mentioned that Howdy was designed to fill a gap. Many streaming services have become expensive and filled with ads. He believes there needs to be an option for viewers who want a cheap and ad-free choice. Roku wants Howdy to become an important player in the streaming market.

The CEO also stated that Howdy won’t just be for Roku devices. He said they plan to make it available on other platforms too. While Wood didn’t give details about exact platforms, he mentioned that they want to spread Howdy everywhere. This means Howdy could one day be on different smartphones and tablets. Though Wood didn’t share how many people are using Howdy yet, he feels confident it can grow into a major streaming service.
