Tokyo: The new season of Shogun is coming, and it promises lots of surprises. The creator, Marks, says Season 2 will be different from the first. In the first season, the story had clear sides, but now it will have “unpredictable surprises.”

A big reason for this change is Ochiba no Kata, played by Fumi Nikaido. In season 1, a ballerina named Anna Sawai played an important role. But in Season 2, Ochiba’s character will take the lead. This story is based on Yodo-kun, who was married to Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The focus on women’s political roles makes the story even more interesting.

The writers and producers have to think a lot about history. People who know Japanese history already know what happened at the Sekigahara battle. They have to be careful with any changes to it.

Despite this, Marks feels good about their approach. They look at culture and history as a framework instead of just facts. They want to tell a fictional story that blends real events with imagination. At the Disney Plus Original Preview 2025 event in Hong Kong, Marks, along with Condou and star Hiroyuki Sanada, shared their thoughts on the new season.
