Taiwan to Invest $250 Billion in US Semiconductor Manufacturing Industry
Taiwan is set to invest $250 billion in U.S. semiconductor manufacturing to boost production and create jobs in both countries.
Taiwan’s tech companies will invest this money in the U.S. semiconductor industry. This investment also includes energy and AI (artificial intelligence) production. Taiwan already makes more than half of the world’s semiconductors.
Also, Taiwan will provide $250 billion in credit guarantees for other investments. It is not clear how long these investments will take.
In return, the U.S. will invest in Taiwan’s semiconductor, defense, AI, and biotech industries. However, the exact amount from the U.S. side is not mentioned.
This news comes as the Trump administration wants to bring semiconductor manufacturing back to the U.S. Today, only about 10% of these chips are made in America.
The government says this situation is risky for the economy and national security because they rely on foreign supplies. If any issues occur, it could affect both the U.S. industry and military capabilities.
