Lifestyle

New York: Cats are beautiful and sometimes very picky. Finding good toys for them can be hard. There are so many options! Cats need certain things to play, scratch, and relax. Based on years of testing with our cats, we found our favorite cat toys and furniture, which are all approved by our cats. Even if a toy is not liked by our cats, we looked at how well it is made and if it is a good value for other kitties.

We have tried every toy on this list with our own cats. All of these toys help bring out their natural instincts. For example, there is an interactive mat that moves like prey, and a puzzle toy that gives treats when they solve it! Also, having more places to climb is super fun for them.

I am a caring cat mom who loves pet tech. Every toy and piece of furniture in this guide has been tested by me and my team’s very spoiled cats. If you love dogs too, check out our guide on the best dog gear!

We updated this list in January 2025 by adding new toys and updating prices and links.

Cat Toys

Sofolor Interactive Cat Toy: This fun cat toy is one we recommend to all cat owners. My spoiled cats usually do not play with toys for long, but this one keeps them busy for hours! It has three fun modes: Normal, Active, and Interactive. It also turns off by itself after some time. It is easy to charge, and I was amazed at how much my cats loved playing with it.

Viwik Interactive Cat Toy Mat: My cats get super excited when they see this play mat. It might not keep their attention as long, but it still provides good playtime. The rolling ball inside lights up and moves on its own, which captured their interest for about half an hour. I hide it for a bit before bringing it back to keep it exciting. The ball does need a charge after every use.

Valonii Motion Activated Cat Laser Toy: There are mixed thoughts on laser toys for cats. Some say it can be frustrating since they never catch the laser dot. My cats love it! It helps them get exercise and have fun. I always give them treats afterward to reward their hard work. This laser toy has three modes and a motion sensor, but it needs to be charged daily.

Catstages Interactive Cat Treat Puzzle: One of my cats is very smart and always wants to be entertained. This puzzle toy lets me hide their treats. You can cover the treats with leaves for an extra challenge. I have a few models and they still enjoy them years later!

If you cannot find the right toys, Meowbox is a popular subscription service. They deliver toys and treats every month or two, and for every box sold, they give food to a shelter.

Snuggly Cat Ripple Rug: The Ripple Rug is a favorite among my cats. You can change its shape for more fun! It is made from recycled plastic and legs are sturdy enough for playing and scratching.

Kong Kickeroo: All my cats enjoy this toy. It is a great size for kicking with their back paws and has crinkly material inside. Even my older cat can’t resist it!

This rechargeable toy flaps its wings and makes sounds that catch my cats’ attention. They first found it puzzling, then they loved to play with it. It has a long battery life, so I only need to charge it every few weeks.

Bawan Silvervine Chew Sticks: My one cat doesn’t react to catnip, but he loves these chew sticks! They help keep him busy and away from chewing cords.

My cats have loved one specific wand toy for 20 years. It uses a fun movement to make it feel real to them. Be sure to have extra feather attachments in case they lose it!

This pet camera lets you play with your cat from far away. It has a laser feature, but sometimes it doesn’t work well. Still, my cats enjoy it!

Enabot Rola PetPal Robot Pet Companion: This robot can be a toy, camera, or treat dispenser. My cats like it, especially the toy on it. The camera can be controlled while you are away, which was entertaining for them.

Cat Trees and Furniture

Omlet Freestyle Indoor Cat Tree: This cat tree is unique because you can build your own! It has different shapes that cats of any size can enjoy.

Neighbors and delivery people always notice a popular cat perch I have. It is easy to attach to the window. It holds a lot of weight and allows my cats to enjoy the outside safely.

Mau Reiya Cat Tree: Mau’s cat furniture is well-made and stylish. The Reiya tree looks like midcentury art but is also very sturdy. It has cushions that zip off for washing.

This stylish scratcher doubles as a side table. Mau’s Kona table fits well with modern styles but also lets cats scratch to stay entertained.

K&J Pet Products Kitty Sill Cat Window Perch: This window perch gives cats a place to relax and look outside. It is easy to set up and holds up to 40 pounds.

This heated cat bed is cozy and has a washable cover. It supports the joints of older cats too, making it a great choice.
