Tesla Influencers Leaving the ‘Cult’ Over Elon Musk
Former Tesla supporters are breaking away from the company as FSD safety concerns and canceled projects drive disillusionment among once-loyal fans.
Things changed when Musk promised a car would drive across America by 2017. It didn’t happen. O’Dowd says nothing really worked. He saw Tesla announce cool new cars but then those cars never came out. The $25,000 affordable car got canceled too.
O’Dowd got worried about Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) software. He says videos showed it wasn’t safe yet. So he started the Dawn Project to warn people about bad software in important systems. They made ads showing Teslas almost hitting school buses and people.
The Tesla fans don’t believe O’Dowd. They call him names and say he works for oil companies or other car makers. One fan said he has “blood on his hands” because his company makes defense software. O’Dowd knew this would happen when he spoke up.
