Trump Administration to Dismiss Health Risks in Air Pollution Regulations
The Trump EPA plans to stop considering health effects from air pollution in its regulations, raising concerns among health advocates.
Pollution has hurt people’s health for many years. Ozone and fine particulate matter, or PM2.5, are known to cause serious health problems like asthma and heart disease. High levels of ozone can be dangerous, especially on smoggy days when the air is not clean.
PM2.5 is tiny but harmful, causing issues like Alzheimer’s and kidney disease. Sadly, even babies are affected, as exposure during pregnancy can lead to low birth weight. Each year, about 10 million people die because of this pollution around the world.
This change comes at a time when tech companies are using more dirty power sources, like natural gas, to run data centers. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce supports the Trump’s administration’s move, saying it will help balance regulations. They are excited to see the new EPA plans.
