New York: Vimeo, a video-hosting platform, is laying off some of its global staff. This news comes from a report by Business Insider. These layoffs follow its acquisition by Bending Spoons, an Italian tech company. They bought Vimeo for $1.38 billion in an all-cash deal last year.

Bending Spoons confirmed that layoffs will happen, but they did not say how many jobs would be affected. The Verge noted that many workers will lose their jobs. A LinkedIn post from Vimeo’s former VP of Global Brand and Creative said he and many others were affected by layoffs.

Vimeo has been working on AI technology in recent years. This year, it revealed plans for AI tools to help with script-writing and video editing. In the past, Vimeo added many AI tools to help filmmakers connect their content with AI workflows.

Bending Spoons has also bought other popular tech platforms like Meetup and WeTransfer.
