Why Amazon Acquired Bee the AI Wearable to Expand Its Technology Reach
Amazon’s purchase of Bee, an AI wearable, aims to enhance user experience beyond smart home devices
Las Vegas: Amazon recently bought Bee, an AI wearable device that can be worn as a pin or a bracelet. This device was showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show. With this new product, Amazon hopes to reach users outside their homes.
Bee is designed to help people record conversations during interviews, meetings, or classes. It works like an AI buddy that learns from your recordings and connects with other services like Gmail and Apple Health.
Amazon already has Alexa, its popular AI that works inside homes. However, they think adding Bee will make things better. Maria de Lourdes Zollo, co-founder of Bee, said that Bee understands life outside while Alexa handles indoor tasks.
Daniel Rausch, an Amazon VP, believes Bee offers an important and friendly experience. He noted that combining the two devices would be more beneficial for users in the future.
Bee learns about users’ daily patterns to help them remember tasks and follow-ups. Early users include students recording lectures and seniors who need memory assistance. Bee aims to create a knowledge graph that helps users understand their lives better.
Although Bee has great features, like taking voice notes and daily insights, it also discards audio recordings to protect user privacy. There are still many exciting updates expected in 2026 as the team works to enhance the device’s abilities.
Bee’s team is excited to be part of Amazon, believing that the future holds endless possibilities for their innovative device.
