City: Wing, a company owned by Alphabet, is expanding its drone delivery service. They are partnering with Walmart again, bringing the service to 150 new locations. This comes less than a year after their first partnership. The plan will be rolled out across this year and into 2027.

Many customers like using Wing’s drone delivery. Heather Rivera, the chief business officer, shared that some customers order three times a week. Popular items include eggs, ground beef, fresh tomatoes, and snacks like Takis.

This new expansion adds to their service areas, which include places like Houston, Orlando, and Tampa. Wing aims to have operations in over 270 Walmart stores soon. Once fully expanded, they will serve about 10% of the U.S. population.

Wing started working with Walmart in 2023 to test their service at two stores in Dallas. This pilot program grew quickly and included more stores in Atlanta. Rivera said Wing is also improving its technology, including new aircraft that can carry heavier items.

They are looking to try different ways to expand. Last year, they opened six stores at once in Atlanta. While Rivera didn’t share if they’re making money yet, she is focused on making the business bigger, and she sees volume as the key to success.
