A Berks County man is held for court on charges related to a fatal crash that claimed the life of a Schuylkill County resident.
Robesonia: A man from Berks County is in some serious trouble after a crash on Route 422. This incident sadly took the life of a man from Schuylkill County.
Luke A. Thomason, who’s 27 and from South Heidelberg Township, had a preliminary hearing this week. He’s facing some heavy charges, including vehicular homicide. After the hearing, he’s still out on bail, waiting for the next steps in court.
So, what happened? Well, on August 29, around 4:35 p.m., Thomason was speeding on Penn Avenue, which is also Route 422. He ran a red light at Big Spring Road and crashed into another car.
The other driver, Brian Strubhar, who was 57 and from Pine Grove, had the green light. Unfortunately, he didn’t survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Thomason ended up in the hospital with injuries, but the details on those are unclear. The local police, along with state police and the district attorney’s forensic team, are looking into the whole situation.
