Cincinnati’s TV landscape saw significant changes in 2024 with anchors leaving and new faces joining the stations
Cincinnati: It was another big year for Cincinnati’s TV news world.
Veteran anchors and reporters left their stations, and new faces appeared on Cincinnatians’ television screens.
Here’s a look at the journalists who came and went in 2024, plus other major events.
Megan Mitchell returned to WLWT-TV in January 2024.
Megan Mitchell, a News 5 (WLWT-TV) anchor and reporter, made her comeback to WLWT in January.
Sam Harasimowicz joined WCPO as a multimedia journalist in July.
Marlena Lang started as a multimedia journalist and reporter for WCPO in July.
Jay Shakur joined the WCPO news team as a multimedia journalist in August.
De’Jah Gross joined the WCPO news team as a multimedia journalist in September.
Sydney Hawkins joined WKRC as a “Good Morning Cincinnati” weekend anchor and reporter in July.
Yanni Tragellis joined WKRC as a news reporter in May and was promoted to sports anchor in October.
On the flip side, WCPO anchors Jasmine Styles and Evan Millward left the station in 2024.
Madeline Ottilie, a reporter and multimedia journalist for WCPO, left Cincinnati after three years.
Multimedia journalist and reporter Jessica Hart left WCPO after two years.
WLWT anchor Courtis Fuller stepped down from his weekend anchor role.
Longtime WKRC anchor and reporter John Lomax passed away in March after suffering complications from pneumonia. He was 72.
Lomax worked at the station for 39 years and co-anchored “Good Morning Cincinnati” for 32 years before retiring in 2022.
Cincinnati radio legend Jim Scott died in June of ALS at the age of 81. He retired in 2015 after a 55-year career on the airwaves.
TV icon Phil Donahue died peacefully in August at age 88 after a long illness. He was known as a pioneer of daytime talk shows.
Former journalist and public relations executive Pat Crowley died unexpectedly at age 63 in December.
Nancy Daly, a former Enquirer editor and reporter, died in October after complications from hip surgery. She was 70.
Longtime WCPO reporter and photographer Jay Warren died following a battle with cancer in June. He was 54 years old.
