A food cart vendor in Hell’s Kitchen was brutally attacked and robbed, leading to the arrest of the suspect, Jeffrey Vargas, by police.
Manhattan: So, there was this crazy incident in Hell’s Kitchen where a food cart vendor got attacked. The poor guy lost some teeth and had a rough time. Police say the mugger, Jeffrey Vargas, just walked up and hit him with a piece of plexiglass and a metal object. Can you believe that?
After the attack, Vargas ran off with a whopping $3,500. The vendor ended up in Bellevue Hospital with minor injuries, but losing teeth is no joke. It’s just awful.
Vargas didn’t get far, though. He tried to hide in a subway station nearby, but police caught him. They even released a photo of him, hoping someone would recognize him. It’s good to see the cops acting fast.
He lives in the Bronx, which is about nine miles from where the attack happened. His court date was still pending, but it sounds like he’s in a heap of trouble.
One of the vendor’s co-workers mentioned that they’ve seen Vargas before and described him as “trouble.” It’s a relief that they caught him before he could do more harm.
