Coshocton County faced significant closures on Monday due to snowfall, with more expected throughout the day
By 8 a.m., the sheriff’s office had put out a level 1 snow advisory. This means the roads were pretty slick with blowing and drifting snow, so folks were told to drive carefully. Meanwhile, nearby counties like Muskingum and Licking were dealing with a level 2 advisory, and some areas in southern Ohio were at level 3, which means no non-emergency traffic allowed.
Rob McMasters, who runs the local emergency management agency, mentioned that the forecasts had Coshocton County dodging the worst of the snow. He said it’s tough to pin down exactly how much snow we got because of all the blowing around. He also noted that people weren’t posting much about the snow on social media, probably because it wasn’t as dramatic as it could have been.
He joked, “If we had 8 to 10 inches, you’d see a lot more pictures.”
As for closures, schools like Coshocton, Ridgewood, and River View were shut down, along with several preschools and agencies. Even the Coshocton Senior Center had to pause home-delivered meals.
On a side note, Columbus firefighters were busy clearing snow at their stations, and thankfully, there were no power outages reported in Coshocton County.
The National Weather Service has a winter weather advisory in place until 7 p.m. tonight, with another 1 to 2 inches of snow expected. They’re estimating a total of about 3 to 5 inches for the county. After this, it looks like we’ll have clear but chilly weather for the rest of the week, with lows in the upper teens and highs in the mid-twenties.
