OGDEN: Hill Air Force Base just announced some big changes. They’re suspending the Trusted Traveler Program starting Friday. This comes after those scary incidents in Las Vegas and New Orleans.

So, what does this mean? Well, before, if you had a Department of Defense ID, you could bring someone in with you. But now, they’re doing 100% ID checks at all gates. If you don’t have an ID, you’ll need to get a visitor pass at the South Gate, and that’s only during business hours.

The South Gate Visitors Center is open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. It’s a bit of a hassle, but they say it’s for everyone’s safety.

The spokesperson mentioned that this change affects all installations and units in the U.S. and Alaska. They’re taking these steps to keep everyone safe, but it might slow things down a bit for visitors and personnel.

As for when the Trusted Traveler Program will be back, there’s no word on that yet.

In case you missed it, on New Year’s Day, a tragic incident happened in New Orleans. A 42-year-old Army vet drove through a crowd on Bourbon Street, killing 15 people and injuring many more. Just hours later, in Las Vegas, a Green Beret rented a Cybertruck and set it off outside the Trump International Hotel. It’s been a tough time, and these security measures are a response to that.
