Honolulu: So, here’s the scoop. The police in Honolulu have kicked off a murder investigation. They’re looking into a doctor who allegedly gave a lethal dose to an 88-year-old woman, which might have broken Hawaii’s assisted death law.

Now, this law, called the Our Care, Our Choice Act, lets people get a prescription for lethal medication, but there are strict rules. The person has to take it themselves, you know? But police say that in this case, the doctor helped the woman take it.

It all started when someone reported that the woman, who passed away on October 9, didn’t actually self-administer the medication. The police found out that the doctor was involved in a way that led to her choking.

Apparently, she even signaled for him to stop, but he didn’t. That’s pretty alarming, right? An autopsy later confirmed that her death was a homicide.

On Friday, the police searched the doctor’s home for more evidence. This is the first time they’re investigating a homicide linked to Hawaii’s assisted death law, and as of now, no arrests have been made.

They’re keeping things under wraps for now, so we’ll have to wait and see what comes next.
