KNOX COUNTY: So, Knox County got hit with a pretty hefty dose of snow and ice on Sunday. It was quite the scene out there!

Matthew Holden, the Highway Superintendent, mentioned that the snow amounts were lighter up north but heavier down south. He said they haven’t seen any major issues from freezing rain yet, but it’s been a problem closer to Gibson County.

With all this going on, state officials are really pushing for people to stay off the roads. Gary Brian from the Indiana Department of Transportation said it best: “Stay home.” If you absolutely have to go out, just take it slow and give yourself extra time.

The Highway Department noted that while the varying snow amounts haven’t caused them too many issues, drivers need to be aware of what’s happening in their own neighborhoods.

Holden explained that once you hit two inches of snow, it doesn’t really matter if it’s two or eight inches for them. But for folks at home, two inches is manageable, while eight can really cause some trouble. Thankfully, drifting hasn’t been a big issue yet, and let’s hope it stays that way!
