Longmont: The City Council is gearing up to fill a soon-to-be vacant Ward 2 seat. They plan to have a new member by January 30, which is pretty quick!

Marcia Martin, the current council member, is stepping down on December 31. She’s been in New York lately, taking care of a family member, and has been joining meetings online.

Applications for the open seat will start on December 16 and close on January 8. Then, on January 21, they’ll hold public interviews to find the right fit. The new member must live in Ward 2, and they aim to swear them in on January 28.

Interestingly, there won’t be a special election for this seat. Martin’s term was supposed to run until December 2025, but now they’re moving forward without that extra step.
