Eight candidates are vying for the title of Aurora at the 2025 St. Paul Winter Carnival, showcasing diverse backgrounds and talents
These candidates come from all walks of life. We’ve got a school bus driver, a small business owner, and even a mental health therapist among them. Each one has a unique story to tell.
Take Samantha Axt, for instance. She grew up in the Twin Cities and has fond memories of winter traditions. She’s all about community, volunteering with youth programs and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings with her family.
Then there’s Shakira Bradshaw, who’s dedicated her life to public service. She’s an accountant for the state and has been involved in early childhood education initiatives. In her downtime, she loves baking and gardening.
Anna Day, another candidate, has a passion for baking that started with her great-grandmother. She drives a school bus and enjoys building relationships with her students. Her personal library is growing, too!
Bailey Dominick is a small business owner who values community connections. She loves reading and traveling, and she’s involved with a nonprofit that supports local furries.
Michaela Hingst is a preschool teacher who also works at a nursery. She’s all about vibrant life experiences, from hiking to family time. And she’s got a knack for growing roses!
Jenny Harris, a mental health therapist, enjoys winter walks with hot cocoa. She’s passionate about her work and loves spending time outdoors with family and friends.
Christina Murphy-Porte, born in January, feels like she’s always been the queen of winter. She’s pursuing a degree in elementary education while giving back to the community through youth sports coaching.
Lastly, Tessa Westlund, who works in human resources, enjoys being the fun aunt and cherishes the little moments in life, like bonfires and flower arranging.
The royal coronation will kick off the 10-day Winter Carnival, and everyone is invited to join the festivities. It’s a celebration of community, winter, and the spirit of St. Paul. Don’t miss it!
