Muncie: So, gas prices in the Midwest just went up a bit. They’re now sitting at about $2.88 a gallon, which is a jump from last week’s $2.81. This info comes straight from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Interestingly, prices haven’t changed much since last month. Just to give you some context, they were as low as $2.77 back in January and peaked at $3.77 in August. Quite a swing, right?
Looking back a year, the average price was actually a bit lower at $2.80. So, it seems like we’re seeing a slight increase overall.
For comparison, the national average last week was $3.02, which means we’re still about 4.4% cheaper here in the Midwest. Not too shabby!
The EIA tracks prices across a bunch of states, including Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa, among others. It’s good to know how our region stacks up against the rest of the country.
