Thousand Oaks: Prosecutors have charged a man named Uriel Gamboa with murder after he allegedly killed his girlfriend at a hotel. This tragic incident happened last week in Newbury Park.

Gamboa, who is 31, didn’t enter a plea during his arraignment in court. The charges include special allegations that the crime involved great violence, which could lead to a tougher sentence if he’s found guilty.

The victim, 24-year-old Aliya Pitts, lived in Sherman Oaks. Gamboa reportedly called the police late at night, claiming he had killed her and was feeling suicidal.

Investigators were seen gathering evidence at the Palm Garden Hotel, where the incident took place. The crime is said to have occurred between January 4 and January 6.

According to the complaint, Gamboa allegedly used a broken bottle or shards of glass in the attack. The medical examiner hasn’t released the official cause of death yet.

As of now, Gamboa is being held without bail at the Todd Road Jail. His next court date is set for February 10.
