Pasadena: You won’t believe what NASA just pulled off! Their Parker Solar Probe got super close to the Sun, breaking records by getting within 3.86 million miles of its surface. That’s like nothing we’ve ever done before!
This little spacecraft, about the size of a small car, zoomed through space at a mind-blowing speed of 430,000 miles per hour. Can you imagine? At that speed, it could go from Los Angeles to New York City in just 20 seconds! Crazy, right?
So far, this is the 22nd time the Parker Solar Probe has made a close approach to the Sun. NASA’s got big plans for this mission, and they’re really pushing the boundaries of space exploration.
Arik Posner, the program director, said this mission is all about answering those big questions we have about our universe. Right now, they can’t talk to the probe because it’s so close to the Sun, but they’re hoping to hear back soon to confirm it’s still safe and sound.
