LOS ANGELES: The Palisades Fire is causing quite a stir as it creeps closer to the San Fernando Valley. This wildfire is already making history as one of the most destructive in the area.

Sky5 footage shows the flames moving toward Mulholland Drive in the Santa Monica Mountains. Fire crews are working hard, dropping slurry lines to try and slow it down.

People in the San Fernando Valley are understandably anxious. The fire is just two miles from places like Tarzana’s Braemar Country Club, and it’s a real concern for many.

As of Friday afternoon, the fire has burned over 21,000 acres, but only 8% is contained. Tens of thousands of folks are under evacuation orders or warnings, stretching from Pacific Palisades to the Pacific Ocean.

Residents in Calabasas and parts of Tarzana and Encino are also on alert. The fire started earlier this week and has been fueled by strong Santa Ana winds, tearing through homes and businesses.

Sadly, over 5,000 structures have been lost, and the damage is estimated to be in the billions. Just before 4 p.m. on Friday, evacuation warnings were expanded to include more neighborhoods.

Right now, the cause of the fire is still being looked into. It’s been a tough time for Southern California, with at least 11 lives lost due to this fire and another in Altadena.

Firefighters are on high alert, and Cal Fire has warned that conditions could remain critical for the next week. They’re keeping a close eye on the weather, as strong winds could return soon.

Stay tuned for live updates as this situation develops.
