Pensacola: As the weather forecast predicts significant snowfall and frigid temperatures next week, Escambia and Santa Rosa County offices are starting to close down. Regular office hours and events are being canceled to keep everyone safe.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the area, warning of a 50% chance of 1 to 3 inches of snow on Tuesday. If snow doesn’t happen, we might see freezing rain and ice instead.

This Winter Storm Watch is set to be in effect from 6 a.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday for both Escambia and Santa Rosa counties.

So, what’s closed? The City of Pensacola is shutting down its administrative offices, including all departments not located at City Hall, and community resource centers.

Pensacola State College is also closing all offices and canceling on-campus classes for Tuesday. However, online classes will continue as usual, so if you’re in one of those, you’re still on!

Escambia County is following suit, with all county offices, including the Board of County Commissioners and public libraries, closing down. Even the Tax Collector’s offices will be shut.

Escambia County Public Schools are closing all schools and district offices on Tuesday due to the wintry weather forecast. They’ve also canceled their monthly school board meeting.

As for early voting in Escambia County, all locations will be closed on Tuesday, but they extended hours on Sunday and Monday to help folks get their votes in.

Santa Rosa County is not left out either. Their Board of County Commissioner meeting and other events scheduled for Tuesday have been canceled, and county offices will be closed.

Santa Rosa County Schools will also be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, and early voting hours have been completely canceled for Tuesday.

Stay safe out there, everyone! Keep an eye on the weather and make sure to check for updates on closures.
