A mix of rain and snow is set to create a messy weekend in Massachusetts, with cold air following the storm.
Massachusetts: This weekend is looking pretty wild. Saturday starts off rainy, and then we’re in for some snow on Sunday. It’s going to be a bit of a mess.
Friday is chilly but sunny, which is nice. But come Saturday, things are changing fast. Expect temperatures to rise, and rain will roll in during the late afternoon and evening. Most places will get about a quarter to half an inch of rain.
By Saturday night, the skies should clear up a bit. But don’t get too comfy because Sunday is when the real action starts. Meteorologist Vicki Graf says it’s going to be an interesting day.
We’re looking at plowable snow arriving late Sunday afternoon and sticking around into Monday morning. This could really mess with the morning commute for folks heading to work on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Graf mentioned that southern New England could see anywhere from 2 to 5 inches of snow. The Cape and Islands might get a lighter touch, with just a coating to 2 inches.
Of course, the storm track could shift a bit, which might change the snow totals and where the heaviest snow falls. So, keep an eye on that.
Once the snow clears, get ready for a serious cold snap. Highs on Tuesday and Wednesday might struggle to even hit the teens. Brr!
