A man was arrested after entering a Southern California theater with an airsoft rifle, causing evacuations and raising safety concerns among moviegoers.
Apple Valley: So, here’s the scoop. A guy strolled into a movie theater on Sunday, decked out in a tactical vest and carrying an airsoft rifle. Can you believe it? The Apple Valley Police got calls about this scene and rushed over to the Cinemark on Bear Valley Road around 4:19 p.m.
When they arrived, they quickly evacuated the theater. They found the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Byron DeShawn Murphy from Victorville, still hanging around with his airsoft rifle. Turns out, he had some misdemeanor warrants too.
Murphy was taken to the High Desert Detention Center, but it’s unclear if he’s posted bail yet. The police thanked everyone for their calm during the evacuation, which is great to hear.
