Snowfall is expected across Kentucky, with Louisville seeing up to an inch and Lexington possibly getting 2-3 inches by Sunday evening
Louisville: Parts of the city might get an inch or more of snow on Sunday. The heaviest snow is likely to fall east of Interstate 65, according to the National Weather Service.
Light snow started Sunday morning and could pick up until around 1 p.m. Cities like Lexington could see 2-3 inches from this round of snow.
Because of the expected snowfall, a winter weather advisory is in place until 7 p.m. Sunday for Louisville and the eastern half of Kentucky. The whole Louisville area will be under a cold weather advisory from 7 p.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.
In Louisville, neighborhoods inside the Watterson Expressway might see less than an inch, while areas like the East End and parts of Bullitt, Oldham, Shelby, and Spencer counties could get at least an inch by the end of the day. Elizabethtown is also expected to see around an inch or more.
The National Weather Service warned that road conditions could be slick, especially on untreated bridges and overpasses east of Interstate 65.
Here’s what other Kentucky cities might expect:
- Campbellsville: 1-2 inches
- Bowling Green: Less than an inch
- Madison, Indiana: Less than an inch
After the snow, temperatures will drop into the single digits and teens. Wind chill could make it feel below zero Sunday night and into Monday morning.
As for the weather forecast, Sunday night will be partly cloudy with a low around 6. Wind chill could dip to -2. Monday will be sunny but cold, with a high near 18 and wind chill values as low as -3.
Looking ahead, Tuesday will be mostly sunny with a high near 19, and it’ll stay chilly through the week.
