New Bedford braces for 3 to 5 inches of snow with parking bans and safety tips
A Winter Weather Advisory kicks in at 1 p.m. today and lasts until 7 a.m. Monday. Snow is expected to start tonight and could continue into Monday morning. It’s going to be chilly too, with temps dropping into the teens and winds gusting up to 23 mph.
The snow should wrap up by Monday morning, so keep that in mind if you have plans.
Fairhaven has a parking ban during snowfall and snow removal from midnight to 8 a.m. So, if you’re in the area, make sure you park on the right side of the street to avoid getting towed.
Also, Monday is Martin Luther King Jr. Day, so some places like supermarkets and banks will be open, but check ahead just in case.
Governor Maura Healey has shared some winter safety tips. She advises everyone to plan ahead and drive carefully. Make sure to clear snow and ice from your car before hitting the road.
And remember, don’t crowd the plow! Keep a safe distance from snowplows and maintenance vehicles. It’s also a good idea to prepare for possible power outages. Charge your devices and check your emergency kit to make sure you have everything you need.
Logan International Airport will stay open during the storm, but expect some delays or cancellations. It’s best to check with your airline for the latest updates.
