The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory, warning of more snow and strong winds. They expect black ice to form overnight, which could lead to even more power outages.

Appalachian Power reported around 99,544 customers were without electricity, with Mercer County being one of the hardest-hit areas. Crews are working to restore power, but it might take a couple of days.

As of Monday afternoon, they hadn’t provided specific restoration times yet. They’re assessing the damage and will update customers as soon as they can.

In Bluefield, the local mission is helping those in need by providing shelter and warm supplies. They’ve seen a steady flow of people seeking help.
