As winter sets in, it’s crucial to ensure your pets stay warm and safe
Montgomery County: With the chilly weather here, it’s super important to keep our furry pals warm. They deserve to be cozy just like we do.
The Montgomery County Animal Resource Center shared some handy tips on Facebook to help us out. First off, remember that dogs can get frostbite and hypothermia, just like us humans. So, keeping them indoors is a must.
If they have to be outside, make sure they have a snug shelter with warm, dry bedding. Straw and hay can really help keep them insulated. It’s like a little warm nest for them!
When you take your dog for a walk, don’t forget to wipe their paws when you get back inside. Those ice-melting chemicals can be rough on their little feet.
Also, you might need to tweak their food intake during the colder months. Dogs that spend more time outside will need extra calories to stay warm, while those lounging indoors might not need as much.
And if you have outdoor water bowls, keep an eye on them. Make sure they don’t freeze over, and swap out any ice for fresh water. Keeping our pets happy and healthy is what it’s all about!
