Charlotte: A tragic shooting took place in Uptown Charlotte on Wednesday night, leaving one person dead. It all went down around 6:30 p.m. on West 8th Street.

According to reports, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department was seen checking out a red SUV at the scene. Apparently, someone had left the vehicle running while visiting nearby residents.

When the owner returned, they found someone inside the SUV. An argument broke out between them, and then shots were fired. Sadly, the person found inside the vehicle died.

Major Dave Johnson from CMPD spoke about the risks of leaving your car running, especially in busy areas. He mentioned that while it might be tempting in the cold, it can lead to serious problems and is actually illegal.

As of now, CMPD isn’t actively searching for a suspect, but they are questioning everyone involved in the incident.
